[ARCHIVED] Apex Hosts Railroad Incident Response Training

Apex, NC – First responders will be better prepared for railroad emergencies after attending hands-on training hosted by CSX and the Town of Apex. The CSX Responder Incident Training (RIT) train is located in Apex this week, providing first responders from the Wake County and Johnston County areas with specialized emergency response training.

While firefighters are being exposed to specialized hazmat response situations, police officers are learning about the laws surrounding railroad operations. This training provides the critical knowledge needed for initial response procedures to rail-related emergency calls, including the unique safety features of modern rail tank cars.

This dynamic, educational train is currently located behind the Rodgers Family Skate Park (1290 Ambergate Sta, Apex) through May 23, 2024.

CSX Transportation is a Class 1 freight railroad that owns and maintains approximately 1,709 miles of track infrastructure in North Carolina. With multiple freight and passenger trains operating daily through Apex, rail safety is a top concern and priority for the community.
