Get Involved. Volunteer to Coach!
Our volunteer coaches are the face of our youth athletic programs. They lead practices and games throughout the season. Most leagues have one practice each week and a game on Saturday. Some leagues will also have games on Sundays or during the week. All of our coaches are trained and certified through the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA). All volunteers are required to complete a background check before participating in any practices or games. Find a list of crimes (PDF) that will exclude someone from being approved as a coach. If you are interested in volunteering to help coach a team, please fill out the interest form located on that sport's webpage. For general questions about volunteering, please contact Patrick Fitzsimons.
500 Fist Bumps Initiative
500 Fist Bumps is a heartfelt commitment across our Town to consciously connect with, uplift and recognize the vibrant children within our athletic realms. During each practice or game, dedicated Apex coaches and staff pledge to forge connections with our young athletes, cultivating a nurturing atmosphere by offering fist bumps in moments of triumph, effort, perseverance, and everything in between!
Why embark on the 500 Fist Bumps initiative? A simple, positive touch can weave a tapestry of belonging, alleviating stress and lowering blood pressure, ultimately paving the way for enhanced mental health and well-being. This initiative emphasizes the art of intentional connection-building, fortifying our community and team spirit. Teams that embrace physical gestures can also witness a surge in overall performance. By fostering inclusivity among all players, we create a thriving environment where everyone can flourish and contribute to collective success!
Feedback from one parent: "Initiatives like these not only offer valuable growth opportunities for children but also play a significant role in strengthening our community as a whole. By nurturing our younger generation through such engaging and educational activities, Apex is fostering a sense of belonging, connection, and long-term investment in the town’s future."
Officiating
Looking to get involved in our sport programs, but don’t want to coach? Becoming an official may be the answer! Officiating opportunities may be available for some of our youth or adult athletic leagues. If interested, please contact Patrick Fitzsimons to be connected with one of our officials booking agents.
