Help Apex Grow Our Urban Tree Canopy Meeting

Community Meeting - Public Opinion Requested
Thursday, July 27, 6:30pm-8pm
Apex has been selected for a study about beneficially integrating trees into the city’s stormwater management programs. Join us at a community meeting on Thursday, July 27th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. to share your vision for protecting, restoring, and increasing Apex’s tree canopy. The meeting will be held at the Halle Cultural Arts Center, 237 N Salem St, Apex, NC 27502.

The partner for the study, Green Infrastructure Center (GIC), will provide some background on the value of trees in helping communities comply with stormwater permits, reduce flooding, and meet surface water quality goals. GIC will present maps detailing current tree canopy coverage in Apex. As contributors to the study, attendees will be asked to provide input on the following concepts:
  • Perception of current city tree canopy coverage
  • Specific locations in Apex that need more tree canopy
  • Tree-related practices led by citizens or local government that could be implemented but are not currently in place

Apex is one of only two municipalities in North Carolina selected by the North Carolina Forest Service to participate in the study sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service, which covers seven southeastern states.

For more information about the community meeting or the tree canopy and stormwater study, please contact
David Wood via e-mail.
