About Think Apex

Think Apex was created in 2014 to encourage a local mindset by all parts of the Apex community, including businesses, residents and visitors. It not only encourages those in and around Apex to support and invest in the distinctive aspects of our community, but to also make a positive impact by performing unique acts of service. By fostering a local mindset, Think Apex empowers the community to celebrate, engage, play, volunteer, shop, eat and work locally.

History of the initiative:

What started as an idea from Apex Council Member Nicole Dozier to encourage residents to shop local has evolved into a much broader campaign.

“Apex has been a great place to live for quite some time,” said Dozier. “As the town has grown, Apex has proven to be a great place to attend school, own a business, learn a new skill, work, seek medical care, and enjoy recreation and events. Think Apex means all of these things and more to me.”

The Town enlisted the help of Apex High School’s Academy of Information Technology intern program, bringing on AHS junior Peyton Sickles to create a website for Think Apex. After partnering with another local resource, Promotional Partners, stickers and magnets were created with the Think Apex logo. Then, it was time to put the word out.

At the town’s largest public event, PeakFest, Dozier talked to festival-goers about Think Apex. She asked them a simple question – what does Apex mean to you? The feedback was tremendous from individuals who stopped to respond to the query. They filled a banner with written comments like: “Family friendly, beautiful place to call home!”, and “Small town feel in a great community!”.

It is the hope of all involved that the Think Apex initiative highlights how all the parts of the Apex community, the businesses, residents and visitors alike, can come together to create a stronger more vibrant community.
